In this Live Streaming Lesson, we cover: What are the most important aspects to plan for when carrying out a live event and advice on how to implement them.

Based on our experience, the most significant aspect of planning for a live event is setting goals ahead of time. We tend to see that a majority of the work is done leading up to the event, but then “taking it to the finish line” falls short. It’s important to clearly define why you are live streaming. Through this process, you may identify that perhaps the goal was to just live stream. However, we encourage you to hone in on what you really want to accomplish. Depending on whether it’s lead gen vs conversions vs brand awareness, your planning could take very different approaches. For example, a campaigns’ setup would vary greatly based on the goal.

Which leads to another essential element to consider: campaigns. Marketing campaigns are a crucial part of any live event. Think about how you market your own product or service – you should take the same care in marketing your live event. Have campaigns in place for during the live event and post execution, in addition to leading up to the event. You must do the marketing upfront to make sure people know about the live stream, how to get to it and why they might want to watch it.

Finally, a well thought distribution strategy is a key component of a successful live streamed event. Make it easy for people to get to your live stream. Most importantly, don’t limit your stream to only one destination. You already have built-in audiences on your social channels, so why not meet your audience where they already are. Use a technology like Blast to make it easy for you to share your stream to a wider audience. If you are looking to have people come back to a controlled experience around your brand, you can point viewers back to your landing page. Use social as a tool to drive your potential prospects back to your brand (and ultimately convert).
