UC Berkeley Extension: What’s New in Corporate Sustainability?

Implementing strategy for corporate sustainability was very much a nascent idea among many U.S. businesses before 2010. But in the past few years there has been boom in such initiatives. In 2012, 64 percent of companies declared they either had corporate sustainability plans in place or have laid out a framework to do so– a 50 percent increase from 2011.

Bottom line: building real sustainable business practices is an important trend in order to pursue financial, social, and environmental returns.

A UC Berkeley Extension event this week titled “What’s Trending?: Sustainable & Greener Corporations” covered the latest practices used by businesses that address looming environmental changes while generating profits and community benefits. Technology Forecasters founder Pamela Gorden joined environmental consultant Harvey Stone to discuss what’s new and what the future may hold in corporate sustainability.
