As one of the cutting edge innovators in Silicon Valley, Google has brought the world unlimited email storage capacity, detailed global maps, and could soon introduced autonomous cars for the everyday consumer.
But if there is one thing that Google has finessed like no other company has, it’s the simple ability to search the internet. And for “lolcat” fans looking for that perfect image or YouTube clip, Google may be on the verge of a remarkable breakthrough.
Peter Norvig, Director of Research at Google, who has published various articles on artificial intelligence, information retrieval and natural language processing, joined the Singularity Summit to demonstrate a new computer system– one that is able to organize images sources from YouTube videos without prompting or guidance from programmers, specifically images of cats.
