For most individuals who sit in front of a computer all day long, managing email can be a time consuming and frustrating task, whether it’s getting out from under the weeds of an inbox or how to keep consistent in crafting professional emails. But an ever-present reliance on email can often mean slacking on important details, such as maintaining security in any given online communication.
While there are a number of tips out there to lower the chances of having one’s email compromised such as visiting only trusted websites and choosing strong passwords, there isn’t a foolproof security method to combat hackers and other invasions. Unless, of course, you’re Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano. In an interview with the National Journal on cybersecurity threats, Napolitano admitted that she eschews email entirely when it comes to sending secure messages.
