Is Defense of Government a Good Election Strategy?

After a rousing nomination speech by President Bill Clinton last night, President Obama will take the stage in Charlotte to offer his own argument as to why he deserves a second term in office. While his campaign is maintaining radio silence on specific details within the speech, analysts are speculating on how he will position himself based on several themes that were introduced by First Lady Michelle Obama and President Clinton– one of which is the role government plays in our lives.

So, could a defense of government, a position that Republicans have strongly advocated against, help Obama win over voters?
