National Geographic Live: A Travel Writer’s Impression of Cuba

To find the soul of Cuba, one must look at a variety of institutions– from the politics of the Cuban revolution to history behind the country’s embrace of music, dance, and the syncretic religion of Santería.

Travel writer and photographer Christopher Baker has traveled extensively throughout the Cuba, documenting the lives of the people who have lived under the reign of Fidel Castro (and his brother, Raúl) and their attitudes toward their country’s position as one of last remaining bastions of communism in the world. He joined National Geographic Live and took his audience on a visual tour of this enigmatic island nation.
