Colin Powell: Bush Administration Helped Improve the World

As U.S. Secretary of State during the first term of the Bush adminstration, Colin Powell played a key role in building a case and garnering international support for the 2003 invasion of Iraq. While his legacy was tarnished by his role in the Iraq War, Powell stressed that the Bush administration did make great strides in creating a better world through other foreign policy strategies such as providing greater aid to Africa, fighting against infectious diseases, offering support to the growth of NATO and the European Union, and improving relations with China and Russia.

On his current book tour for the promotion of It Worked For Me: In Life and Leadership, Colin Powell addressed a Commonewealth Club audience on both his successes and failures as Secretary of State.
