What would happen if you put your hand in the world’s largest and highest-energy particle accelerator, the Large Hadron Collider? That was the question put to the scientists working on the collider, which is located in a long tunnel, 175 meters below the French-Swiss border.
The beam is extremely intense–the energy like an aircraft carrier in motion. Take their advice, keep your hands in your pockets the next time you visit.
