From current sectarian violence in countries such as Iraq to the ongoing Israeli-Palestine conflict, critics often see religion as a divisive wedge. But around the world, people go to churches, mosques, synagogues and other places of worship to find solace, a sense of community, and to do good works—much of which is often overshadowed by violent acts done in the name of religion.
