Two years ago, Stephen Fry and Christopher Hitchens joined forces to debate Ann Widdecombe and Archbishop John Onaiyekan with Zeinab Badawi in the chair over the motion: ”The Catholic Church is a force for good in the world.” The event was organized by Intelligence², the world’s premier debating forum based in London.
Both our homepage today and our YouTube channel feature a marvelous highlight clip from this hugely popular event where Fry and Hitchens with their unique combination of intelligence and principles, swagger and charisma, and above all, friendship and humor, carry the day. Fry confronts the Catholic Church on practical matters such as condoms vs abstinence while Hitchens calls upon the human species to live up to its full potential.
