With unemployment rates sky high, Americans are turning to a “parallel economy,” using their ingenuity, creativity and new web tools to start their own enterprises, she says. Unfortunately, that isn’t likely to help, says economist and author Paul Krugman. Thanks to the Great Recession, the careers of most young Americans will never recover. They will never earn what their parents earned.
